NO TWO AUTHORS HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME editorial needs or working methods. My services are designed to be flexible enough to accommodate a wide range of situations and goals. I primarily work with complete manuscripts and most projects I take on fall (roughly) into one of the following three categories:
Manuscript Evaluation/Conceptual Edit
For authors seeking a professional opinion of their work’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as general advice to guide the revision process. Your manuscript is read and a telephone consultation is arranged. You will also receive several pages of notes summarizing points of discussion and detailing areas and issues to focus on as you revise your manuscript.
Structural and Line Editing
For authors seeking substantive editorial guidance on matters of content, structure, and style. Your manuscript receives a line-by-line edit, complete with margin notes addressing specific problems and providing possible solutions. The marked-up manuscript is returned to you along with a detailed editorial letter that will serve as a road map for the revision.
Project Development and Proposal Writing
For nonfiction authors with a great idea or story seeking to turn their sample material into a commercially viable book project. Hands-on guidance will be provided to develop your ideas and material into a professional book proposal with which to approach literary agents and publishers.
